Reflections of Carmina Burana
(Joe Pereira)
love’s embrace,
time’s relentless pace
The ancient songs ebb and flow.
Youth’s brief bloom
the eternal joy and woe,
ancient songs will always flow
Desire’s flame is all
but a fleeting fire,
A hunger deep, a doomed desire
Through joy and grief we all
Hear the echoes ring,
A mortal cry to fate we sing
Oh wheel of fortune
You’re spinning high
You lift the heart, then let it die.
The monks are singing
their voices rise
fickle fate,
both the cruel and the kind,
A turning wheel, a blind mind.
feast of life,
there’s the wine and there’s the flame,
Burning beneath your fame
Carmina echoes, fierce and divine
A hymn to life, both coarse and fine
Through joy and grief we all
Hear the echoes ring,
A mortal cry to fate we sing
