I try to lift my hopes and views

I try to see above the dirt

the latest trend in this cold city

keeps on bringing me down to earth

grey and cloudy skies are getting me down

don’t know how long I’ll stay afloat

if I don’t swim away I’ll drown

I hear the call, it’s loud and clear

I know the time is getting near

I tried to tell myself for so long

this is the only place to be

the centre of my world was once

the place that used to set me free

now I feel I have to write a song

about being forgotten and made to feel

as if I don’t belong

I must look back to where I’ve been

must find another place to go

I feel I’m driving down a never-ending highway

with nowhere to go

and in the rear view mirror

the image on the glass reminds me

of the only place I know
