Basketful of dreams
(Joe Pereira)
He sat and stared at the screen
Where a film played out his dream
Showing him all the things he’d planned to do
He smiled he laughed and he cried
the fire inside still burns
dreams shift, and bridges fall
In life’s twists and turns
Years have weathered his face
But not the dreams, he once embraced
time moves on and memories wane
But the soul still sings his favourite song
Or just the refrain
basketful full of dreams, is what it seems
A plan once painted in vibrant schemes
now the colour’s gone, the picture is hard to see
basketful full of dreams, that time redeems
The broken thoughts of some youthful dream
a life of remains
Of love and loss and pain
The sun has started to set
There’s no room for deep regret
every dream has led to this
Lets not forget
As he wandered back through time
And through some old melodies
The notes still play the same, but the tune has changed
Oh the song has changed
Changing memories
